Get to know Iranian director of Western movies

Iranian actor/director Negahdar Jamali has made several Western films due to his passion for this movie genre.

The late artist from the Iranian city of Shiraz struggled to make Western movies - what he liked very much in life - and his movie credits, according to a media report,  included around 100 movies.

In a documentary titled, ‘My Name is Negahdar Jamali and I Make Westerns’, Jamali is featured while directing and acting in Western movies.

“My name is John Ford and I make Westerns” this is how John Ford introduced himself at the American Film Directors’ Association gathering. Jamali, introduced himself the same way when director Kamran Heidari first met him.

The director appeared and directed his movies simultaneously, using actors mostly from his hometown Shiraz.

The father of the Persian Western movies passed away last year at the age of 57.
